The 45th Chess Olympiad 2024 is scheduled to be held in Budapest, Hungary from September 10 to 23. The FIDE-organised event will feature the best chess players from around the world, including R Praggnanandhaa and Magnus Carlsen, competing for one of the topmost prizes in the game.
The tournament will also have a women’s event, featuring some top Grandmasters and International Masters in the female chess circuit, such as Rameshbabu Vaishali and Nana Dzagnidze.
10 national teams, with five chess players each, will compete for the gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 45th Chess Olympiad 2024. The first rounds of both the open event and the women’s event will take place on Wednesday, September 11. Both events will feature classical chess matches between the teams.
The 44th Chess Olympiad open and women’s events were won by two surprising contestants, with the young Uzbekistan and Ukraine teams winning the gold medals in the respective groups.
