New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS) In a bid to promote sporting culture in the country, Air India here on Sunday organised a Chess-O-Mania tournament.
The tournament provided a unique platform to participants, where they competed with renowned chess champions like Arjuna Awardee woman Grandmasters S. Vijaylakshmi and Tania Sachdev and Grandmaster Tejas Bakre.
A total of 102 entries were received to play a qualifying rapid tournament.
Commenting on the occasion, Arjuna Awardee Tania said, in a release: "Opportunities in our country for Chess are growing and this game has the ability to enhance an individual's abilities in many aspects which can help them in life in many ways."
"Such initiatives are not very common where chess enthusiasts can get an opportunity to play with professionals, I would like to thank Air India for giving me this opportunity," she added.
