India’s Parimarjan Negi has finished joint first at the World Open Chess held in Arlington, Virginia with a prize money of $43,000. This is the second time that the country’s young Grandmaster has been jointly declared as the winner.
World Open 2013 came to an exciting finish this Sunday morning with a 10-way tie for the first place in the open Section. Another Indian Grandmaster who was also taking part in the tournament, Magesh Panchanathan, only managed to finish 11th.
Negi had also won the DC Open title earlier this week by scoring 7.5 out of possible nine points, half point ahead of his nearest rival at the same venue.
