The 13th game of the ongoing World Chess Championship 2024 between the defending champion Ding Liren and Indian Grandmaster Gukesh D ended in a draw at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. Currently, the World Chess Championship Final scores read 6.5-6.5 with just one more game remaining. It’s worth noting that if the scores end level after Game 14, there is a tiebreaker scheduled to determine the eventual winner on Friday, December 13.

Moving into the details of Game 13, Gukesh looked in good control of the round with Ding Liren facing excess pressure on the board. Interestingly, for the first eight moves, Ding Liren spent almost 54 minutes while Gukesh took only 55 seconds.

Despite being under tremendous pressure, Ding had played all accurate moves. Eventually, a three-fold repetition draw was accepted, with both players moving to the final game after the scores were tied.

Earlier, Ding Liren secured a win in Game 1, while Gukesh bagged a win in Game 3. It’s important to note that Games 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 ended in a draw. Subsequently, in Game 11, Gukesh made a comeback to bag a win. Meanwhile, Ding Liren secured a win in Game 12.

A total of 14 games are there in the World Chess Championship final. The first player to reach 7.5 points will be crowned with the World Champion title.
