Defending champion Ding Liren clawed back in style as he defeated Indian Grandmaster Gukesh D in Game 12 of the ongoing World Chess Championship 2024 at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. As of now, the World Chess Championship Final scores read 6-6 with only two more games to go.
It’s important to note that if the scores are leveled after these two games, the campaign will move to a tiebreaker on Friday, December 13.
Moving into the details of Game 12, both players looked out of control on the clock, which led to a tense situation. In the end, Gukesh looked in a tough position with only seven minutes left to make 15 moves.
After losing his previous game, Ding Liren had no option but to take a risk and go for a win. Earlier in the campaign, Ding Liren secured a win in Game 1, while Gukesh bagged a win in Game 3.
It’s worth noting that earlier, Games 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 ended in a draw. Subsequently, in Game 11, Gukesh made a comeback to bag a win. There will be 14 games in the World Chess Championship final. The first player to bag 7.5 points will secure the World Champion title.
