Indian chess prodigy Gukesh Dommaraju made history at the World Chess Championship 2024 by defeating reigning champion Ding Liren to become the youngest-ever world chess champion. At just 18 years, Gukesh shattered the previous record held by Garry Kasparov, who had claimed the title at the age of 22 years.
This momentous victory, which took place in Singapore on December 12, 2024, not only added the prestigious title to Gukesh’s name but also secured his place as one of the greatest chess talents of this generation.
The final match of the World Chess Championship 2024 saw Gukesh clinching the title with a score of 7.5 points against Liren’s 6.5. The win was hard-fought, with the match lasting 14 rounds. As the dust settles, the question arises, what about the prize money?
