What’s the story
Indian chess grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand might have come across some really crazy and humorous fans across the tenure of his career. However, one fan has quite possibly eclipsed all of them with this tweet. This particular fan really did not hold back in his attempt to troll PETA India.
In case you didn’t know…..
PETA stands for ‘People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’. It is a not-for-profit animal rights organization based in Norfolk, Virginia in the United States of America. It was formed in 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk, who is also the international president for the organization. Over time, PETA has spread across the globe, with PETA India being the local arm.
The heart of the matter
The chess game, over time, especially in the Indian context, has come up with some unique names for the components/pieces. These are based especially on the looks and design of those pieces.
The knight is commonly referred to as the horse, the rook as elephant and the bishop as the camel. And as we all know, Vishwanathan Anand, who has been at the pinnacle of the game for more than three decades now, has killed/defeated numerous such camels, horses and elephants en route to his victory.
One fan, however, saw the funny side to this as he took to social media to troll PETA India. He has for sure, left PETA India absolutely stumped and embarrassed.
What’s next?
It will be interesting to see whether PETA India actually comes up with a reply. And just in case, the great man himself has read the tweet, what will his reaction be like?
Author’s take
For once, it seems as if someone has actually managed to spread a laugh on twitter without having to insult someone. And it sure did flex everyone’s jaw muscles.
