With the 2024 college baseball season coming to an end, all eyes are now on 2025. Each program is looking to strengthen its rosters and find replacements for players who are likely to make the step up to the major leagues in the upcoming MLB Draft.

Among all NCAA baseball teams, four of them currently stand out as legitimate contenders for the coveted College World Series title. Here, we take a look at those four teams.

Four teams who can contend for the NCAA Tournament in 2025

4. Kentucky Wildcats

The Wildcats shared the SEC regular season title with the Tennessee Volunteers in the 2024 season. Along with winning their first regular season title in 18 years, they also earned the highest seeding in program history as the No. 2 national seed in the postseason.

Their trajectory under 2024 SEC Coach of the Year, Nick Mingione, looks promising. Although they are likely to lose top MLB draft prospects, Ryan Waldschmidt and Émilien Pitre, they have the core of their roster intact, which makes them a dangerous side for 2025.

3. LSU Tigers

The Tigers fared decently in 2024, making it to the postseason before the North Carolina Tar Heels eliminated them in the Chapel Hill Regional. However, they look set to have one of the most talented rosters in 2025 as they plan to add more players through the transfer portal.

Their 2024 recruiting class features 10 players in the Top 100 high school prospects as per Perfect Game, the most of any program in the country. While they are set to lose stars like Tommy White and Jared Jones, the threat posed by Jay Johnson's side is too large to ignore for their opponents.''

2. Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies made the College World Series finals for the first time in program history. Their offense stood out, with Braden Montgomery, Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovac enjoying stellar seasons to help the Aggies make a deep postseason run.

Jim Schlossnagle shocked the Aggies just a day after their finals defeat in Omaha, leaving them to become the Texas Longhorns' new head coach. While it triggered the entry of their main stars in the transfer portal, the appointment of Michael Earley as Schlossnagle's replacement saw them commit to College Station.

Along with talented recruits like Wyatt Henseler, the Aggies are laying down the foundations to mount a solid challenge next year and could end their wait for that elusive College World Series title in 2025.

1. Tennessee Volunteers

The Volunteers enjoyed a dominant season under Tony Vitello in 2024. They won the SEC regular season title, SEC Tournament and their maiden College World Series title, suffering just two losses in the entire postseason. They also became the first team in SEC history to record 60 wins in a single season.

While some of their stars like Christian Moore and Billy Amick are set to be picked in the MLB Draft, the Volunteers still have an extremely talented roster. Their 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 1, featuring 9 of the top 100 high school prospects as per Perfect Game.

Combined with their plans to add talented players to their roster through the transfer portal, the Volunteers have the credentials to become the first team to win back-to-back NCAA Tournaments since the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2010 and 2011.
