Three Arkansas Razorbacks players in contention to be picked in the 2024 MLB Draft
Here's a look at the Razorbacks expected to be selected in the 2024 MLB Draft:
1. Hagen Smith, Pitcher
Hagen Smith is the Razorbacks' all-time strikeout leader and had a season to remember in 2024. Smith showed out in his junior year and amassed numerous laurels to close out his collegiate baseball career.
He led the nation with an NCAA-record 17.25 strikeouts per nine innings. He also ranked first nationwide in hits allowed per nine innings, second in strikeouts and fourth in ERA.
Smith was named the ABCA/Rawlings National Pitcher of the Year, Collegiate Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year, and the Perfect Game Pitcher of the Year.
The Athletic projects that Hagen Smith will be selected with the seventh overall selection of the 2024 Draft.
#2 Peyton Stovall, Infielder
Peyton Stovall had a final season to remember with the Razorbacks. He led the program in batting average at .340 with nine home runs and 38 RBIs. That was despite him missing the first 12 fixtures of the season with a broken foot.
Stovall was equally impressive when fielding. He had a fielding percentage of .988 while committing just two errors at second base. For his efforts, he earned All-Southeastern Conference Second Team honors.
According to The Athletic, Peyton Stovall is projected to be selected with the 23rd overall pick of the 2024 Draft.
#3 Brady Tygart, Pitcher
Brady Tygart had a decent send-off season with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The right-handed pitcher put up good numbers while being in the shadows of Hagen Smith.
Tygart made 14 appearances in 2024, putting up a stat line of 3.94 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 59.1 innings. He amassed a 4-3 win-loss record in the process.
Brady Tygart will likely hear his name called much later in the 2024 MLB Draft.
