The North Carolina Tar Heels are one win away from the College World Series. On Friday, They defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 8-6 during the Chapel Hill Super Regional. Vance Honeycutt became the hero for the Tar Heels after hitting a two-out, two-run walk-off home run at the bottom of the night. Here's what Honeycutt had to say after the game:
"Credit [Coach Wierzbicki], he had a good report, that tends to happen. We normally have pretty good reports on the guys. We knew he had a fastball and slider and that's what we knew he was going to attack us with."
Reliever Matt Poston won after throwing three scoreless innings and striking out four batters. If the Tar Heels close the deal on Saturday night, this would be their first College World Series appearance since 2018.
