Kaelen Culpepper is an American shortstop who is playing his final year of college with the Kansas State Wildcats. He began his high school baseball career at the Saint Benedict at Auburndale where he was a four-year letterman for the Eagles. In his senior year of college baseball, Culpepper had a batting average of .394 with six home runs, 30 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. Coming out of high school, Culpepper was an exceptional high school prospect but was not drafted in 2021 during his graduation year.
Culpepper started his collegiate baseball journey with Kansas State Wildcats where he was blessed with a starting role right into his freshman year. In 2022, he slashed in 283/.356/.428 with nine doubles, five home runs, and 22 RBIs in 51 games and was named in Big 12’s All-Freshman Team. His numbers kept on improving year over year and enjoyed another productive season as a junior. This year, Culpepper slashed .328/.422/.573 with 79 hits, 14 doubles, 11 homers, 58 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Culpepper is ranked as one of the top amateur shortstops in the country and has developed into a disciplined hitter over his three years with the Wildcats. He could be the first player in K-State’s history to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft.
