For the first time, the Tennessee Volunteers won the College World Series after defeating the Texas A&M Aggies on Monday night. There was a lot of excitement throughout the streets of Knoxville during the Vols Victory Parade to celebrate with their faithful fans.
The present Tennessee Volunteers baseball team is set to go down in history as one of the most dominant programs of their era, boasting 184 total home runs and a team OPS of 1.020. With a roster filled with talent, it's clear why this program ranked among the top in college baseball nationwide.
Can the Tennessee Volunteers repeat as College World Series Champions?
After never winning a single College World Series title in the history of their program, the Tennessee Volunteers are in the driver's seat to potentially spark a dynastic run in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, it is difficult to have a definitive answer just 24 hours after winning Game 3 of the 2024 College World Series.
The program has a lot of incredible talent that is eligible for the upcoming 2024 MLB draft, so depending on which players are beginning their professional career and which decide to return to the Vols to play for coach Tony Vitello, that will give people a clearer indication.
Some of the more notable names that are eligible for the 2024 MLB draft from Tennessee are Christian Moore, Blake Burke, Zander Sechrist, Drew Beam and AJ Causey amongst others. Those five players in particular are some of the most significant players for the Vol's success this season and that will be difficult to replace if they all end their collegiate careers with the Tennessee Volunteers.
However, there is also a reason why the Vols were able to win the NCAA Championship. They have a loaded roster, even outside of those five key players, and it's hard to imagine many teams being able to surpass them.
Expect Tennessee to win enough games to make the College World Series in 2025 and continue to be in the mix for the next few years.
