The Alabama Crimson Tide have had an up-and-down season but remain among the top contenders in college baseball. Entering the final weekend of the season with two games remaining, the Crimson Tide have a 32-20 record, including a 12-16 mark, in a Southeastern Conference that has been very tough.
The final weekend of the regular season will be key, as the SEC Tournament starts on May 21, while the NCAA Regionals kick off on May 31. Heading into Alabama's final regular-season series against the Auburn Tigers, take a look at where they stand in regards to the 2024 College World Series:
Where do the Alabama Crimson Tide stand after Week 13?
The Alabama Crimson Tide have had a strong season. They have a 32-20 record but have struggled in SEC play, going 12-16. Alabama still has the 15th-best odds, +3500, to emerge as national champions.
Their odds trail that of the Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, Arkansas Razorbacks, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Oregon State Beavers, Kentucky Wildcats, Clemson Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Florida State Seminoles, East Carolina Pirates, Duke Blue Devils, Georgia Bulldogs, Virginia Cavaliers and Vanderbilt Commodores.
It's no surprise that despite their struggles in conference play, odds remain high on the Crimson Tide. The SEC has been, by far, the toughest conference in the sport - with four teams ranked in the top-five and seven in the top-25. Alabama's postseason position will likely be determined by the SEC Tournament.
As things stand, they appear unlikely to receive a top-16 seed and hosting rights in the regional round of the tournament. If they win the SEC Tournament, though, that could change.
In fact, emerging as the champions of a very tough conference could catapult them a top-eight seed. That would ensure that they host games through the super regionals, provided they are not eliminated from the tournament.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are in the midst of a three-game set with the Auburn Tigers. While they have more than likely secured a spot in the NCAA Regionals, which start on May 31, their seeding will be determined by how they end the season and fare in the SEC Tournament.
Alabama will have to get through the NCAA Regionals and NCAA Super Regionals to qualify for the 2024 College World Series, which doesn't begin until June 14. While they have struggled in SEC play, their tough conference schedule should make them battle-tested during the postseason.
