Jim Schlossnagle is the new Texas Longhorns baseball head coach. The former TCU and Texas A&M recently accepted one of the biggest jobs in college baseball.

During his introductory press conference, Schlossnagle described an unfortunate encounter with a young reporter. He apologized for his response to a question asked by Robert Zane on Monday.

"I want to publicly apologize to Richard Zane. He's a young reporter, and he asked an obvious question. I wish I could have answered that better. In the moment, all I could think about was our players, and I really wasn't in the mood to talk about myself or the future," He said

After the apology, Schlossnagle continued to answer other questions at his introductory press conference.

What did Jim Schlossnagle say to the young reporter?

Following a close loss to the Tennessee Vols on Monday, Jim Schlossnagle was asked by Richard Zane of TexAgs.com about the Texas job. It's important to note that news had just broken that the Longhorns were moving on from David Pierce.

Schlossnagle replied to the reporter:

"I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again, and that hasn't changed in my mind. That's unfair to talk about something like that. ... I gave up a big part of my life to come take this job, and I've poured every ounce of my soul in this job. And I've given this job every single ounce I could possibly give it. So write that."

Looking back at the moment, it's hard to fault Richard Zane for his questioning. There were rumors, and the youngster was merely trying to confirm them. Jim Schlossnagle just took offense at the wrong issue.

Jim Schlossnagle joins the Texas Longhorns after a three-year spell with the Aggies

The drama stems from Schlossnagle joining the Texas Longhorns after a successful spell with the Texas A&M Aggies. Longhorns athletic director Chris Del Conte, Schlossnagle's former superior at TCU, facilitated the move.

Schlossnagle thanked Del Conte for his role in the move. The beaten College World Series finalist will aim to bring success to the Longhorns and transform them into a baseball powerhouse. He is expected to get the required backing from the higher-ups as he aims to become one of college baseball's best programs in the near future.
