Steelers QB Russell Wilson congratulates Tennessee baseball over historic College World Series title win

The Tennessee Volunteers recently secured a historic moment in Omaha. Head coach Tony Vitello was successful in leading the program to its first national championship in baseball while also becoming the first No.1 seeded team since Miami in 1999 to win the title.

The Vols had not been to a baseball final since 1951. After slipping up in game 1 against the Texas A&M Aggies, Vitello and his team pulled up their socks and secured victories in the final two games to be crowned as the college champions.

Congratulations and well-wishes have been pouring in for the Tennessee Volunteers after their historical night in Omaha. Among those well wishes was a congratulatory message from Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson.

In a tweet that he posted on X, Wilson extended his congratulations to Vitello and his team despite playing for NC State and Wisconsin during his collegiate football career.

"Congrats to @Vol_Baseball", Wilson wrote in his tweet."

From his tweet, it is clear even Wilson understands the symbolic victory of the Vols against the Texas A&M Aggies. After several unsuccessful title runs in the past few years, the program under the guidance of Vitello finally managed to break free and write their name down in history.

Tony Vitello heaps praise on his Tennessee players for their teamwork

After clinching the natty, the Tennessee head coach complimented his players on their exceptional teamwork on the pitch. He also acknowledged the support and love that the fans have been giving them throughout their tumultuous journey.

"Kids are tough these days. They will do what you ask them to do. I know our fans got us through that tough inning. That was a group effort to the mould. If you're in the SEC, you're going to be a superstar player. But you need to be a good teammate, and that's what these guys were", Vitello said.

With this victory, the Vols become the eighth team from the SEC Conference to clinch a baseball natty.

There were several notable people in attendance for the game as well, including 2x Super Bowl champ Peyton Manning, Vols football and basketball head coaches Josh Heupel and Rick Barnes, as well as country singer Morgan Wallen.
