Earlier today, Kaeden Kent became the latest player to withdraw from the transfer portal and return to Texas A&M Baseball. His decision is bound to excite fans following his sophomore season in which he was a standout for the Aggies.
Kent entered the transfer portal soon after former head coach Jim Schlossnagle announced his switch to the Texas Longhorns as their new head coach. Kent exited the portal just eight days after entering it, taking to social media to show his commitment to the Aggies.
He shared a photo of one of his glorious moments in the Aggies uniform and delivered a short message with it.
"Like I said, nobody better. #gigem"
Kent's announcement thrilled some of his teammates, with Hayden Schott, Ryan Prager and No. 8 MLB draft prospect Braden Montgomery among those who shared their reactions to his decision.
"HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA BANG JOHNNY BASEBALL," said Schott.
Prager added, "We can say this!!!"
"Kento bean!" rejoiced Montgomery.
Just a few days after Schlossnagle's departure to the Longhorns, new Texas A&M athletic director Trev Alberts promoted hitting coach Michael Earley as the new head coach of the team.
It would seem this decision paid off, as Kent became the third Aggies player to exit the portal after entering it following Schlossnagle's departure. He joins superstar freshman Gavin Grahovac and Jace LaViolette, the pair exiting the transfer portal just 24 hours earlier.
Kaeden Kent starred in Texas A&M Baseball's 2024 season
Kent stood out as one of the Aggies' most prolific hitters this season. He recorded four home runs and 28 RBIs in 51 appearances. His batting average of .327 was the third-best of all hitters, exemplifying his importance to the team.
Kaeden Kent played a key role in the Aggies' success this season, chipping in with important runs during clutch situations. This season, the Aggies reached the College World Series finals unbeaten in the postseason, standing on the cusp of history. However, they fell short in the finals despite winning Game 1, losing to the Tennessee Volunteers.
With Earley at the helm and some of their key stars committing their future to College Station, the Aggies will hope to cross that final hurdle in the 2025 season.
