Jac Caglianone is among the most exciting prospects in this year's MLB draft. Ahead of the three-day event starting on Sunday, the two-way star flexed his physique with snippets from an arduous workout.
Caglianone took to the field to practice his pitching and then to the weight room, where he carried out exercises to strengthen his shoulders, back and legs. Soon after that, he visited Raising Canes, a popular fast-food joint that specializes in chicken fingers.
He devoured a box combo, one of Raising Cane's most popular menu items. After enjoying the chicken fingers, he spoke highly of their food after an intense day of training:
"Got a chicken finger with the Cane sauce. There's nothing better after a long day, man!"
Charlie Condon, who is likely to rival Caglianone for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft this year, made a light-hearted joke about the Gators star's Raising Cane obsession:
"Bro definitely eats the slaw," joked Condon.
Recently, Caglianone listed Metro Diner and Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza as his favorite local food spots in Gainesville.
Jac Caglianone is the No. 3 prospect in 2024 MLB draft
A torn UCL forced Jac Caglianone to play for the Florida Gators only as a hitter in his freshman season. He debuted his two-way antics in his sophomore year, establishing himself as one of the finest talents college baseball has seen in recent memory.
In 2023, Caglianone's 33 home runs became a new single-season program record. Along with 90 RBIs with an average of .323, the 6-foot-5 star was a crucial part of the Gators team that reached the College World Series Finals that season. He also went 7-4 on the mound while recording 87 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.34 in 74.2 innings pitched.
This year, Caglianone grew even stronger. At the plate, he broke his own single-season program record for home runs (35), while recording 72 RBIs. His .419 batting average was the third-best in the country this season. On the mound, he went 5-2 while recording 83 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.76.
His incredible consistency over two full seasons for the Gators has made him the No. 3 ranked prospect in this year's draft. While the No. 1 overall pick is likely a toss-up between Condon and Travis Bazzana, Jac Caglianone is also in with a shout to be a part of MLB history.
