The 2024 college baseball season saw the SEC make history. Eleven of its teams secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament field of 64, breaking its record for the most teams from a single conference, which was 10 last year.
Here's a look at all 11 teams taking part in regional play from the Southeastern Conference.
SEC teams in the 2024 NCAA baseball tournament
Tennessee Volunteers
The Volunteers have been the team to beat this season. They shared the regular-season title with the Kentucky Wildcats, finishing with a 22-8 conference record. They also won the SEC Tournament after a narrow 4-3 win over the LSU Tigers in the championship game on Sunday.
Their 50-11 record, along with being first in the RPI, shows their prowess, making them one of the favorites to go all the way.
They will host the Knoxville Regional and are the No. 1 national seed for only the second time in program history.
Kentucky Wildcats
The joint winner of the SEC regular season, Kentucky (40-14, 22-8 SEC) is led by Nick Mingione.
The Wildcats earned the No. 2 national seed, the highest in program history. They will host the Lexington Regional, welcoming the Indiana State Sycamores, Illinois Fighting Illini and Western Michigan Broncos.
Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies (44-13, 19-10) finished second in the SEC West. They earned the No. 3 national seed after finishing second in the RPI as the SEC made history as the first conference to snare the top three national seeds in the NCAA Tournament.
The Aggies will host the Bryan-College Station Regional, welcoming the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, Texas Longhorns and Grambling State Tigers.
Arkansas Razorbacks
The Razorbacks (43-14, 20-10), finished atop the SEC West and ranked fifth in the RPI. Holding the No. 5 national seed, they will host the Fayetteville Regional, with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Kansas State Wildcats and Southeast Missouri State Redhawks filling out the field.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs (39-15, 17-13) finished just behind the joint regular season champions in the SEC East. Sixth in the RPI, they earned the No. 7 national seed. In the Athens Regional, the Bulldogs will host the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Army Black Knights.
One name to keep an eye on in the Bulldogs' postseason is Charlie Condon, the No. 1 MLB draft prospect who has been making waves with his hitting prowess.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Crimson Tide (35-22, 13-17) were one of six SEC teams to get an at-large bid.
They will be the No. 2 seed in the Tallahassee Regional, which will have the host Florida State Seminoles, who are the No. 8 national seed, along with the UCF Knights and Stetson Hatters.
Florida Gators
The Gators (28-27, 13-17) are making their 16th consecutive postseason appearance and will be the only SEC team who will take part in the NCAA regionals as a No. 3 seed.
Last season's College World Series runners-up will take part in the Stillwater Regional hosted by the No. 9 national seed Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Niagara Purple Eagles, in their first NCAA Tournament, round out the regional field.
LSU Tigers
The reigning NCAA Division I champions made a late surge to reach the postseason. LSU (33-22, 13-17) made the SEC Tournament final as the 11th seed in a run that strengthened their resume.
The Tigers will be the second seed in the Chapel Hill Regional hosted by the No. 4 national seed, the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Wofford Terriers and LIU Sharks round out the regional.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs (39-21, 13-17) stunned the Aggies 5-3 in the SEC Tournament but failed to reach the semifinals after losing the next two games in pool play.
The 2021 NCAA champions will be the second seed in the Charlottesville Regional, joined by the host Virginia Cavaliers, St. John's Red Storm and Penn State Nittany Lions.
South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks (36-23, 13-17) also had an incredible run in the SEC Tournament, where they stunned the Kentucky Wildcats en route to making the semifinals, where they lost to the Tigers.
The two-time NCAA Division I champions will take part in the Raleigh Regional, hosted by No. 10 national seed NC State. The James Madison Dukes and Bryant Bulldogs are also in the field.
Vanderbilt Commodores
The Commodores (38-21, 13-17) stunned the Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC Tournament before losing to them in the semifinals.
Vandy is making its 18th consecutive postseason appearance, extending the longest active streak in NCAA baseball. They will join the No. 6 national seed, Clemson Tigers, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and High Point Panthers in the Clemson Regional.
