The Texas A&M Aggies narrowly missed out on winning their maiden College World Series this season. After going unbeaten in the postseason, they enjoyed an unbeaten run in Omaha, even beating the Tennessee Volunteers in the first game of the best-of-three series in the final.
However, they lost the next two games and ultimately the national championship to the top seed. Just days after that heartbreak, head coach Jim Schlossnagle chose to fill the vacancy at the Texas Longhorns, leaving the Aggies in need of a head coach.
The Aggies may have more headaches coming their way as 11 players have entered themselves in the transfer portal. Although the Aggies' decision on Schlossnagle's replacement can convince some of them to stay, this is not a guarantee. Here is a look at those 11 talents who entered the portal as of Tuesday, June 26.
11 Texas A&M Aggies stars who have entered the transfer portal
1. Jace LaViolette, Outfielder
LaViolette was one of the standouts in the Aggies' incredible run to the College World Series finals. The sophomore recorded 29 home runs and 78 RBIs at an average of .305.
He also has 64 walks, highlighting his threat at the plate. While LaViolette presents an exciting prospect in the portal, Texas A&M's replacement for Schlossnagle will play a major part in his availability.
2. Gavin Grahovac, Infielder
Grahovac emerged as one of the most promising talents in college baseball during his freshman season. While serving as their starting first baseman, he recorded 23 home runs and 66 RBIs at an average of .298.
3. Jack Bell, Shortstop
Bell endured a difficult freshman year, starting just three of the 22 games he played all season. He recorded a home run and four RBIs at an average of .250, which hints that another school could make use of his talents at the plate.
4. Kaeden Kent, Infielder
Kent was among the most impressive hitters for the Aggies this season. The sophomore recorded four home runs and 28 RBIs in 51 games played. His average of .327 was the third-best among the Aggies' hitters this season.
5. Max Kaufer, Catcher
The sophomore endured a difficult season, featuring in just 14 games this season. He recorded a home run and five RBIs at an average of .250 with those limited appearances.
6. Hayden Schott, Outfielder
Schott enjoyed a terrific season at the plate this year. The graduate student recorded eight home runs and 63 RBIs in 68 games played. His average of .335 was the best among all texas A&Mbatters this season.
7. Caden Sorrell, Outfielder
Sorrell was another freshman who impressed college baseball fans across the country this season. The outfielder, who made this year's All-SEC Freshman Team, recorded 11 home runs and 43 RBIs at an average of .275.
8. Justin Vossos, Infielder
After taking a redshirt in his freshman season, Vossos rarely featured this year, taking part in just 7 games. He recorded no home runs or RBIs, recording 2 hits in 8 at-bats to tally an average of .250.
9. Jett Johnson, Pitcher
Although he was a utility player in the Texas A&M roster this season, Johnson rarely featured this year. He endured a nightmare game against the Houston Cougars on April 23, conceding two home runs and five earned runs in just 0.2 innings pitched.
10. Ali Camarillo, Infielder
The junior recorded seven home runs and 36 RBIs at an average of .288 this season, starting all 68 of the Texas A&M's games this season. He could be a solid addition for other schools looking for an infielder next season.
11. Carl Schmidt, Infielder
He was rated the No. 28 shortstop and No. 103 overall prospect by Perfect Game following his high school career, during which he represented Marin Catholic High School.
