Who is the ACC baseball player of the year? All we know about Florida State star

Florida State's James Tibbs III was named the ACC baseball player of the year on Monday. In 53 games in 2024, he batted for .383 with 77 hits, 24 home runs, 17 doubles and a whopping 78 RBIs.

Tibbs led the ACC on slugging percentage (.840), on-base percentage (.519), and total bases (168). James Tibbs III becomes just the ninth player in Seminole history to win the prestigious award and the first since 2021 when Mat Nelson won it.

With the win, he joins a group of distinguished Florida State players who have risen to the top of the ACC.

He's now in the company of distinguished players like the three-time World Series champion and San Francisco Giants legend Buster Posey, who won the award in 2008 for the Seminoles.

The night was a highly successful one for the Tallahassee program, which had five players earn All-ACC honors. Alongside Tibbs, starting pitcher Jamie Arnold also earned First Team All-ACC honors. Moreover, second baseman Cam Smith was given a Second Tem All-ACC selection, while Jaime Ferrer and Marco Dinges were picked for the Third Team All-ACC.

Tibbs is a Georgia native junior outfielder in the Seminoles roster. He's a left-hander and is considered a top prospect for the 2024 MLB Draft.

Wake Forest's Chase Burn wins ACC Pitcher of the Year

Junior right-hander Chase Burns was crowned the ACC Pitcher of the Year on Monday.

This is the third time in a row that a Wake Forest pitcher has earned the award. His 169-strikeout campaign ranks fifth among the single-season efforts by ACC pitchers in history.

Burns is just the second Demon Deacon to earn the award in program history, with Rhett Lowder winning the 2022 and 2023 editions.

Burns put up an impressive season ERA of 2.63, alongside 10 wins, for Florida State. He led the ACC in H/9 (5.16), K/BB (7.04), K/9 (17.09) and WHIP (0.84) and was ranked top 10 nationally in all these categories.
