The former national championship winner decided to wow her audience by performing some of her songs on the stage. She changed into another outfit: a metallic blue top and pants with a diamond-studded chain.
The performance was well received by guests, with Lil Wayne shaking her hand mid-performance.
#2 A heartfelt moment shared with Olivia Dunne
When Johnson was showing off her glamorous outfit on the red carpet, she was interviewed by an ESPN reporter along with Olivia Dunne, LSU's well-known gymnast.
Flau'jae Johnson talked about the performance she had planned for later on in the night.
“It’s going to be legendary; I could tell you that. I just want to thank the ESPYS and everybody just giving me this opportunity as a artist that’s been working as a basketball player. This, the ESPYS, is like the perfect platform for me to do this. So, I’m just thankful.” (1:54)
Dunne also talked about her experience as an athlete at LSU.
“I am a completely different person than when I first started this journey, especially at LSU.
"I feel like LSU and the culture in Louisiana has molded me into the person I am today. And LSU just produces amazing athletes and National Championships. I’m just so grateful.” (1:01)
#3 Johnson gave a shoutout to Angel Reese during her ESPY performance
Flau'jae is one such athlete who has moonlighted as a rapper along with being a young basketball star.
She performed her latest song "Best of Both Worlds" at the ESPY Award stage in which she seemingly gave a shoutout to her former teammate, Angel Reese. One of the verses of the song was:
“Keep me a double. I feel like I’m Reese.”
