Kentucky basketball has gone through major changes in its roster after last season due to its head coach, John Calipari, leaving the job. As a result, many former Kentucky players entered the transfer portal, and a few followed Calipari to Arkansas.
Former BYU head coach Mark Pope was hired for the vacant head coach position at Kentucky and had a busy transfer offseason. He secured the services of BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson, Kerr Krissa, Brandon Garrison and many more.
Three Kentucky men's basketball players to watch out for in the next season
#1, Collin Chandler
Collin Chandler went to Farmington High School, Utah, and was a No. 26 in the class of 2022. He averaged 21.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 2.8 assists in that season. However, the Gatorade Player of the Year stopped playing professional basketball for two years and will return to college basketball with four years of eligibility.
Due to Chandler's amazing high school season, he is expected to be a key player for Pope in the upcoming season. He is known for his shooting skills inside and outside the arc.
"Chandler demonstrates on all-around game and he's a legitimate three-level scorer. He can make shots from both inside and outside the arc, his aggressive drive game creates a lot of fouls and he's capable of finishing with both vertical bounce and body control,"Paul Blancardi of ESPN Basketball said.
#2, Andrew Carr
Former Wake Forest and Delaware player Andrew Carr committed to Mark Pope and Kentucky for the 2024-25 season. A strong forward, Carr averaged 13.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 1.5 apg while shooting 52.6%.
Carr finished the season as the fourth-most scorer for Wake Forest after recording seven double-doubles. Carr is known for his 3-point shooting skills. With a career-high of 31 points in a game, he is expected to take charge of the front court for the Wildcats.
#3, Kerr Kriisa
Kerr Kriisa is another player who should prove himself after playing three seasons with Arizona and one season with West Virginia. Last season, he averaged 11.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 4.7 apg while shooting 42.9%.
Kriisa was a starter for the Mountaineers last season and hopes to become one for the Wildcats. He can make the right plays in the halfcourt while dishing in transition. Kriisa could be the replacement for former Kentucky star Reed Sheppard.
