UConn will be on the hunt for a third consecutive national championship title in the 2024-25 college basketball season. The program went through the scare of losing head coach Dan Hurley to the LA Lakers but will fortunately be having him around in Storrs for the next season.

The Huskies lost a host of players, who played an important role last season, to the 2024 NBA Draft. This includes Donovan Clingan, Stephon Castle, Tristan Newton and Cam Spencer.

Here’s a look at three UConn players to watch out for in the 2024-25 college basketball season.

Alex Karaban initially declared for the 2024 NBA Draft following the conclusion of his redshirt sophomore season at UConn. However, the forward eventually decided to return to college basketball to boost his draft stock ahead of 2025.

Karaban has played an important role over the last two seasons in helping the Huskies secure two consecutive national titles. He appeared in 39 games for the program last season, averaging 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Being the only starter from last season returning to the team for the next, Alex Karaban is undoubtedly one to watch out for as Dan Hurley pushes for a three-peat.

Liam McNeely is one of the most touted freshmen ahead of the 2024-25 college basketball season. The Montverde Academy (Florida) product is rated a five-star prospect and has represented the United States at the U16 level.

McNeeley posted impressive stats during his senior year, averaging 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He also earned the honor of being selected to participate in the prestigious 2024 McDonald's All-American Boys Game.

Projected to be a one-and-done prospect, McNeely is a player to watch out for at UConn in the 2024-25 season.

Hassan Diarra played an important role in UConn's national championship success last season. The Texas A&M transfer was the first man off the bench for the Huskies and was crucial to Dan Hurley's team’s dominant run.

Diarra was awarded the Big East Sixth Man of the Year last season for his impact coming off the bench for the Huskies. He appeared in 40 games last season, of which he started only one of them and averaged 6.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

The point guard is expected to take a more prominent role next season, which makes him a player to watch out for.
