On Wednesday, a 40-year-old man pleaded guilty to stalking UConn sensation Paige Bueckers, per ESPN. He was arrested by Connecticut State Police back in August when he was walking near Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks.
His intentions, according to police reports, were to meet Bueckers with the hope of proposing to the college hoops star and getting her expelled from her university.
The man named Robert Cole Parmalee, pleaded guilty to a second degree charge at Rockville Superior Court. Parmalee, a Grant Pass, Oregon native, was handed a one-year suspended sentence and three years of probation during which he is not allowed to enter the state of Connecticut. He must also comply with recommendations set for the treatment of his mental health.
According to the court's orders, Parmalee is not allowed to enter any venue where the UConn Huskies women's basketball team is staying or playing. He has also been banned from all WNBA arenas and practice facilities.
Paige Bueckers did not speak on the matter but her attorney did give out a statement on her behalf.
"My client had requested that (Parmalee) return home, get the evaluation and treatment that he needs, and that she be left alone," said Robert Britt, Bueckers' attorney."We're very happy with that."
Paige Bueckers sets her sights on a marquee matchup versus USC
Bueckers and the Huskies will be rearing to go in what promises to be a hotly-contested matchup against sophomore standout JuJu Watkins and the Trojans on Saturday.
