The UConn Huskies appear ready to dominate the Big East during the 2024-25 season. However, they might find that task tougher than last season as their conference rivals have noticeably improved. With loads of returning and incoming talent on its school's rosters, let's examine five Big 12 players everyone should watch this fall.

Five Big East players primed to thrive in the 2024-25 NCAA women's basketball season

5. Kelsey Ransom, Georgetown

Ransom was arguably Georgetown's best player in the 2023-24 season. She finished the year averaging team-leading totals of 14.1 points, 4.3 assists and 2.2 steals.

The talented guard's impressive performances earned her the Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year award, which she shared with ex-Villanova forward Christina Dalce. She also earned First-Team All-Big East honors.

As one of only two players who appeared in all 35 of the Hoyas' games last season, all eyes will be on Ransom during the 2024-25 season.

4. Caroline Strande, Butler

Strande starred during her senior season for the Butler Bulldogs. In 32 games, she ranked 10th in the conference while scoring 15.1 points and 9th in rebounding at 7.1 per game.

Entering her final year of eligibility, Strande hopes to lead the Bulldogs' postseason charge.

3. Sarah Strong, UConn

The Huskies scored big by landing the top prospect in the country, Sarah Strong. She led Grace Academy to three consecutive NCISAA titles, and averaged 21.0 points, 16.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.8 steals during her senior year.

Strong is also a key player for the USA's women's U18 national team, which earlier this year won two gold medals at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup and the FIBA U18 AmeriCup.

With the Washington Mystics picking up Aaliyah Edwards, Strong could emerge as one of the conference's top freshmen and play a key role in the Huskies' chase for glory this fall.

2. Lauren Jensen, Creighton

Last season, Jensen played a key role while helping the Bluejays make their third successive NCAA Tournament appearance. She ranked sixth in the Big East with a 17.4 scoring average, and also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists during the year.

Jensen, who earned First-Team All-Big East honors last season, should lead the Bluejays' latest charge.

1. Paige Bueckers, UConn

After missing the 2022-23 season due to injury, Bueckers made a phenomenal comeback in the 2023-24 season. She averaged 21.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.1 steals. These numbers made 'Paige Buckets' a first-team All-American and the Big East Player of the Year.

Paige Bueckers enjoyed an impressive comeback season in 2023-24.

Touted as the top pick for next year's WNBA draft, Bueckers looks to justify the hype and lead the Huskies to glory after narrowly missing out last season.
