The USC-Notre Dame matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Galen Center was an early 2025 NCAA Tournament preview. It was also a star-studded affair, with college basketball legends and Hollywood celebrities turning up for the key showdown.
The No. 6 Fighting Irish led from the start and staved off repeated rallies by the No. 3 Trojans to take a 74-61 victory in front of 7,894 fans. JuJu Watkins had 24 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block to lead USC's offense.
However, Watkins' efforts weren't enough as Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles overpowered the USC defense with timely baskets and good perimeter defense to help Notre Dame earn its fifth straight win.
Hidalgo and Miles combined for 44 points, 14 rebounds, 15 assists and eight steals. Notre Dame led by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter before coasting along late in the game.
