American rapper Plies is a South Carolina women's basketball team diehard. He catches the Gamecocks games regularly and met three-time coach Dawn Staley in a pregame visit on Sunday.
The artist, who has a net worth of $6,000,000 per Celebrity Net Worth, watched the South Carolina-LSU game which the Gamecocks won 66-56 to gain a solid grip on the SEC standings. Then he saw a photo of South Carolina guard Tessa Johnson on social media, showing her shooting form.
He asked users on X for some assistance with the photo.
"Can Somebody Get Me This Photo?? I Need It ASAP & I Need @tessajohnsonnnn To Sign It!!! I’m Putting This In The Crib!! 🔥🔥 Look at That Form!! 🎯," the rapper tweeted.
In a previous interview, Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley disclosed the rapper has been a constant presence in the team's games. He is also close to the past players, christening them with cool nicknames.
Staley added that despite his busy schedule, Plies has shown his utmost support for the team.
Tessa Johnson is providing great help off the bench for South Carolina
Tessa Johnson has continued to impressive after a good freshman stint with South Carolina last season. She is averaging 9.4 points, on 49.2% shooting, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
The six-foot Albertville, Minnesota native has been effective off the bench this season and dropped a season-high 22 points in the Gamecocks' 95-68 win over Mississippi State last Jan. 5.
In her last game against No. 5 LSU, Johnson was efficient on both sides of the floor, tallying nine points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks in 22 minutes of action.
Dawn Staley asked her to guard the Lady Tigers' top offensive weapons and was key in limiting their foes to 56 points en route to a big victory that catapulted them to first place in the SEC standings.
South Carolina would likely use Tessa Johnson as an off-the-bench weapon moving forward, which is great for the team as they have a sniper that could mix it up with flamboyant guard MiLaysia Fulwiley and do-it-all rookie Joyce Edwards, forming a dreaded second-unit combo that has posed problems among opposing teams during the season.
