Aaliyah Nye plays collegiate basketball as a guard for the Alabama Crimson Tide, as of January 2025. Aaliyah attended East Lansing High School for her basketball prep career and spent two seasons from 2020-2022 with the Illinois Fighting Illini. During her time at East Lansing High, Nye was a runner-up to the 2020 Miss Basketball title and was named the 2020 Player of the Year by Lansing State Journal. She received two consecutive selections to the first All-Michigan team and was named AP Division 1 Player of the Year. She earned these accolades for her performance during her senior season where she averaged 16.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, taking East Lansing to a 23-1 record. Throughout her high school basketball career at East Lansing High, Nye accumulated a total of 1,370 career points.

Aaliyah Nye began her collegiate football career with the Illinois Fighting Illini in 2020. In her freshman season with the Fighting Illini, Nye played in 18 games where she hit 27 out of 77 attempts, leading the team in three-point shooting. That season, she started in 10 games during the end of the season but missed five games due to a toe injury. After playing two seasons with the Fighting Illini, Nye transferred to the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the 2024 season for the Crimson Tide, 26 games saw her record double figures. She also scored more than 20 points in four games. Nye was also named to the 2024 Second Team All-SEC.
