Adrien Stevens, a six-foot-four combo guard from Potomac, Maryland, plays for the Bullis Bulldogs in high school. The four-star athlete has received 24 offers, including some of the best in the country.
However, on Tuesday, Stevens narrowed down his list to a select group of six universities: Notre Dame, Florida State, Marquette, Tennessee, Georgetown and Villanova.
He has made official visits to Marquette and Villanova and intends to schedule more visits in the coming months. So, here are the top five colleges where the Maryland native could fit in.
Top five landing spots for Adrien Stevens
#5 Georgetown
Ed Cooley's Georgetown Hoyas became the latest college to extend an offer to Adrien Stevens on July 8, 2024. Ranked 17th in his position, Stevens has the potential to be a key figure for Cooley, who aims to rejuvenate Georgetown.
"Georgetown is a great school, and their staff has done a great job of building a relationship with me recently. It’s hard to look past the proximity to home and the culture that Coach Cooley is starting to build," Stevens told On3.
#4 Florida State
The Florida State Seminoles are another team Adrien Stevens is highly interested in. FSU’s up-tempo style would suit Stevens’ game, as it emphasizes transition offense and pressure defense.
"Florida State has a past of lanky guards such as Scottie Barnes. Although I’m not very similar to him In build, I can see some similarities in our game and how Coach Hamilton would use me is somewhat similar to how he used him," Stevens said.
#3 Marquette
The Golden Eagles are one of the two teams Adrien Stevens has toured so far. He visited Marquette in October 2023.
"I have a true belief that they believe in me as a player and also a person. Great opportunity there," Stevens said.
Their competitive Big East environment could foster Stevens to be an elite player. Moreover, Marquette values guard play, and his skills fit their mold perfectly.
#2 Notre Dame
Notre Dame is in no mood to lose Stevens to any other colleges and is doing its best to bring him to the Joyce Center. The Fighting Irish could be a great place for Stevens to develop his offensive ability.
"Notre Dame has been recruiting me for a while, and I have a good relationship with coach Shrewsberry and the rest of the staff. The way they play, his coaching style, and his experience is something I could see being beneficial for me in the future," Stevens said.
#1 Villanova
The Villanova Wildcats are the frontrunners in the race to land Adrien Stevens, with coach Kyle Neptune placing him as a top target for the 2025 class.
"Villanova is a program with a lot of history and a track record of great players that love to get after it on both sides of the floor, like me. The way they play is very similar to something I can see myself in," Stevens said.
Stevens’ ability to play off the ball and create his shot would fit their system. Similarly, coach Neptune's winning approach could heavily benefit Stevens' mentality.
