Aidan Mahaney plays as a guard for the UConn Huskies and is a junior in the 2024-2025 season. Mahaney hails from Lafayette, California, and attended Campolindo High School. Mahaney transferred to UConn after spending two seasons as a starter for the Saint Mary Gaels. During his career at Saint Mary, he averaged 13.9 points per game in both seasons. He helped Saint Mary to the seed five groups twice in the NCAA Tournament and led them to two regular-season West Coast Conference (WCC) championships. He also led the team to the 2024 WCC Tournament victory. Mahaney earned a selection in the All-WCC First Team twice and won the WCC Freshman of the Week honors ten times throughout the 2022-2023 season. Throughout his college career, he averaged 37.5% from three-point range, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
Aidan Mahaney had a remarkable high school career at Campolindo High School in Lafayette, California. He earned All-State honors and won the Bay Area Player of the Year. Mahaney on July 26, 2021, received offers from both Saint Mary’s Gaels and Yale Bulldogs. On September 18, 2021, he committed to Saint Mary’s. He officially enrolled at Saint Mary’s on July 1, 2022, beginning his collegiate basketball career for the Gaels. After two seasons as a starter, Mahaney entered the transfer portal on April 16, 2024. Less than two weeks later, on April 29, 2024, he committed to the UConn Huskies, marking a significant move in his collegiate career as he joined the reigning national champions.
