After graduating from Blue Valley High School in 2022, he held offers from Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, TCU, Texas, and USC, among others but chose to enroll with Missouri. Shaw appeared in 32 games as a freshman, totaling 85 points and 55 rebounds. The following season, he played in 32 games with 10 starts, averaging 3.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per contest. He led the team with 36 blocks and finished tenth in the Southeastern Conference.
