Alabama Basketball Recruitment Tracker 2024-25: List of all players who’ve committed to the Crimson Tide 

Alabama made its first-ever Final Four appearance in team history this past season and the coaching staff led by Nate Oats are busy searching for ways to help the team move another step forward.

The Crimson Tide had a busy college basketball offseason as they secured the commitments of four high school recruits and four players from the transfer portal. Together, they will likely form a solid squad with Mark Sears, Latrell Wrightsell Jr, Grant Nelson, Mouhammed Dioubate and Jarin Stevenson returning for another season.

Here are the eight players who committed to join Alabama in the 2024-25 NCAA men's basketball season.

#1. Derrion Reed

Derrion Reed is a consensus five-star recruit in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-7 small forward chose Alabama over Georgia and Florida State and Oats is thrilled to have the versatile Reed with the team:

"We are thrilled to welcome Derrion and his family to the University of Alabama. Derrion is a top-10 player in the country because of his versatility on offense and can guard multiple positions on defense," Oats said.

Reed brings his athleticism and ability to finish above the rim to the Crimson Tide, who seek to make it to the national championship game next season.

#2. Aiden Sherrell

Aiden Sherrell had dominant high school stints in the Overtime Elite League and the Nike EYBL. He is ranked the fourth-best center in the nation and No. 21 overall in the ESPN 100 2024 class.

Sherrell brings his mobility and skills to the center spot. He will parade a variety of post moves in Alabama, including a jump hook, drop step and reverse pivot. Defense-wise, the 6-foot-11 center excels in hedging ball screens away from the basket and plays in drop coverage.

#3. Labaron Philon

Labaron Philon, who chose Alabama over Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Kansas, Michigan, Ole Miss and Tennessee, is ranked No. 30 in the ESPN 100 for the 2024 class. The 6-foot-4 point guard has been one of the best point guard prospects in the country, leading his school to the Top 10 of the national rankings and into the semifinals of the Chipotle Nationals.

Philon tallied 11.7 points and 4.3 assists per game on the EYBL Scholastic Circuit. He shot over 44% from 3-point range.

#4. Naasir Cunningham

Naasir Cunningham, who chose Alabama over a ton of Division I schools, including Duke, Creighton and UCLA, is ranked No. 62 in the NCAA 100 and No. 21 among small forwards.

Cunningham averaged 13.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.7 apg and 1.3 spg while playing for the Rolling Loud in Overtime Elite in the 2023-24 season.

#5. Aden Holloway

Aden Holloway enlisted himself in the transfer portal after one season with Auburn. In 35 games with the Tigers, the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 7.3 ppg, 2.7 apg and 1.5 rpg. He is expected to boost the point guard spot for Alabama and will form a combo with Mark Sears in the Crimson Tide backcourt.

#6. Clifford Omoruyi

Clifford Omoruyi will play his fifth season of eligibility with Alabama after four years with Rutgers. In 121 games with the Scarlet Knights, Omoruyi tallied averages of 10.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 1.8 bpg.

The 6-foot-11 slot man is expected to boost Alabama's defense with his shot-blocking and rebounding abilities. Omoruyi is also accurate from the paint, with a 54.9% proficiency in the field.

#7. Houston Mallette

Houston Mallette has transferred to Alabama after three seasons with Pepperdine. The 6-foot-5 cager played 94 games with the Waves and averaged 13.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 2.3 apg.

He shot 42.9% from the field, including 37.5% from beyond the arc. Mallette is expected to bring his shooting abilities to Alabama, as he shot 41.5% from long distance in his third year with Pepperdine.

#8. Chris Youngblood

Chris Youngblood will enter his fifth season with Alabama after transferring from South Florida. In his fourth year with the Bulls, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 15.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 2.1 apg in 33 games.

Youngblood will return to Tuscaloosa to play for Alabama. He is expected to contribute to the Crimson Tide's offense which has remained solid with Sears leading the charge.
