Alex Karaban, born November 11, 2002, is a power forward, representing the UConn Huskies for the past two seasons. The 6ft 8inch forward started in all but one game for the program in the last two years. Karaban has established himself as a starter for the program and averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in his freshman season. He took over the starting role in his sophomore campaign and averaged a career-high 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while seeing action in all 39 games.

He was rated as a four-star recruit out of IMG Academy and decided to play for UConn over offers from Penn State, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Iowa, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Virgin Tech among others. He began his high school career at Algonquin Regional High and spent his sophomore and junior campaigns at New Hampton School. During his junior campaign, Karaban was named the 2020 New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year after he averaged 25.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. After the conclusion of the 2023-24 regular season, Karaban decided to declare for the 2024 NBA Draft but returned to UConn for his junior season.
