ESPN basketball analyst Andraya Carter was on the broadcasting panel for the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game on July 20. She teamed up with Carolyn Peck, Chiney Ogwumike, and studio host LaChina Robinson.
Carter shared highlights from the two-night event on her Instagram story, including snaps and clips of when she met with players and celebrities. In one of her stories, she cheered for LSU star Flau'jae Johnson during her rap performance. Carter mentioned Johnson in the video and added raising hands emojis, showing her appreciation for her.
Since the start of the offseason, Flau'jae Johnson has been busy with music performances. She sang at the ESPY Awards last week and performed at the Cannes Festival in France in June. She had another solid act at the WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, impressing the likes of A'ja Wilson.
Andraya Carter was part of the pregame coverage broadcast crew on WNBA Countdown for Saturday's festivities, which was led by iconic women’s basketball announcer Ryan Ruocco. Rebecca Lobo served as the color commentator and was joined on the court by Holly Rowe who took care of reporting from the sidelines.
Andraya Carter praises Caitlin Clark ahead of WNBA All-Star game
Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark has been a standout rookie in the WNBA, and ESPN reporter Andraya Carter praised her while covering the All-Star Game. Carter shared her grade for Clark and highlighted how she has been able to lead her team's uprise after a slow start to the campaign.
"I would give Caitlin an 'A' and I know that people talk about her turnovers and people talk about the beginning of the season and how the team struggled. But the fact of the matter is how she is playing as of late and how she's been able to figure it out and how Caitlin and this team were able to turn the page after such a brutal start to the season," Carter said.
"They [Indiana] continue to get better, led by Caitlin Clark... so for Caitlin, she's getting along with her teammates, the chemistry is getting better and better on both ends of the floor, the statistics supported and the resilience that she's been able to show. To me, it gets an A."
Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals so far this season. Even more impressive is how she has involved her teammates on the offensive end as she is averaging 8.2 assists per game. She once again showcased her court vision and playmaking during the All-Star Game, dishing out 10 assists on the night.
