Senior guard Aneesah Morrow delivered her eighth double-double of the season, leading No. 7 LSU to a dominant 131-44 victory over North Carolina Central on Sunday.
Morrow showcased her versatility, contributing 17 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals while committing only one turnover in 24 minutes. She shot efficiently, making 8-of-13 attempts from the field and 1-of-2 free throws.
LSU established an early 8-0 lead, fueled by Morrow's hot start. She scored eight points on her first four shots, helping the Tigers build a 16-10 lead at the first media timeout. By the end of the first quarter, LSU led 26-18, with Morrow pacing the team with eight points, three rebounds and two assists in just five minutes.
Morrow extended her streak of double-doubles to seven games, now leading the nation with eight on the season. She also tops the country in rebounding, averaging 13.3 boards per game. Her strong performance follows a standout outing of 20 points and 15 rebounds in LSU’s win over No. 20 NC State.
Tigers Extend Undefeated Streak
LSU improved to 9-0, including a perfect 7-0 record at home. The Tigers, ranked No. 7 in the AP poll, are poised to maintain or rise in the rankings.
Despite its commanding win, LSU showed defensive lapses in the first quarter, allowing the Eagles (0-9) to score 18 points—the most they’ve managed against a Power Four opponent this season. However, LSU tightened its defense in the second quarter, holding NCCU scoreless for 11:12 and limiting it to just 26 points for the rest of the game.
Offensively, LSU shot 56.3% (49-for-87) from the field, including 45.5% (5-of-11) from beyond the arc. They dominated the boards with a 58-35 rebounding advantage and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 53 points off 33 takeaways. LSU also held an overwhelming 78-20 edge in points in the paint.
Defensively, the Tigers stifled NCCU, holding them to 24.6% shooting (15-for-61) from the field, 16.7% (4-for-24) from 3-point range and just 43.5% (10-for-23) from the free-throw line.
The Tigers will host Stanford on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2 for the SEC/ACC Challenge.
