The University of Arizona's basketball team is known as The Arizona Wildcats. Arizona announced it would join the Big 12 Conference beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, on August 4, 2023. The team spent 45 years in the Pac-10/12 conference.

During their time in Pac-10 play, the team's former head coach Lute Olson, holds the record for most wins as a Pac-10 coach with 327. The team has also made two appearances in the National Championship. They won over the Kentucky Wildcats in 1997 but in their second appearance, fell short to the Duke Blue Devils in 2001.

Tommy Lloyd is a head coach at the University of Arizona, a position he has held since April 14, 2021. Before taking on the role of head coach at Arizona, Lloyd spent 20 years as an assistant coach at Gonzaga Bulldogs men's basketball team from 2001 to 2021.

For his first year leading Arizona Wildcats in 2021-22, Coach Lloyd received the National Coach of the Year title. Several organizations gave him this recognition. This includes the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), and the Associated Press. Additionally, in 2022, the Pac-12 named him as their Coach of the Year.

Tommy Lloyd agreed to a contract extension in 2022 that extends through the 2026-27 academic year. The new terms of this five-year contract include a total compensation of $19 million over the duration of the agreement.

Associate Head Coach

Jack Murphy is the Associate head coach of the Arizona Wildcats basketball team, a position he has held since January 2019. Previously he served as the head coach at Northern Arizona from 2012 to 2019.

Jack Murphy also has experience in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as an advanced scout and video coordinator for the Denver Nuggets. In 2006 he joined the Texas basketball team as a director of operations, however, in the same year, he joined the Denver Nuggets basketball team as an assistant coach.

Assistant Coach

Steve Robinson and Ken Nakagawa are the assistant coaches of the Texas Wildcats basketball team. Steve Robinson was named an assistant coach at Arizona on September 2, 2021.

He has been to the NCAA Tournament 29 times throughout his career spanning 40 seasons as a coach. Robinson served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Tulsa from 1995 to 1997 and Florida State University from 1997 to 2002.

Ken Nakagawa joined Arizona prior to the 2021/22 season. He began his career as a Director of Advanced Scouting for his first three seasons and was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2024/252 season.
