The UConn Huskies women’s basketball team has a strong shooting guard in the form of Azzi Fudd. She has gained attraction from college basketball fans because of her high IQ of the game, her good scoring and ball handling skills.
Azzi Fudd is extremely versatile and agile on the court. Fudd uses her speed to overcome her opponents on the field. Moreover, she is also good at forcing turnovers on her opponents during her games. Freshman Season (2021/22)
Azzi Fudd debuted for the UConn Huskies in the 2021/22 season as a freshman. However, during the season, she suffered from a stress injury on her right foot. Head coach Geno Auriemma stated (via Sandiegouniontribune.com) that he expected her to be out of the game for at least two weeks. Eventually she returned to the court after missing out on 11 games. She played 25 games as a freshman.
Sophomore Season (2022/23)
Azzi Fudd suffered two injuries during her sophomore season with the UConn Huskies. She suffered a right knee injury on December 4, 2022 in a game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, due to a teammate falling on her knee. As a result, she was sidelined for eight games and eventually returned to the team on January 11, 2023.
Unfortunately, one game later, she again suffered a right knee injury in a game against the Georgetown Hoyas. She missed out on 22 games and returned to the team during the Big East Tournament quarterfinal game against the Georgetown Hoyas. She helped her win the game with a score of 69-39. Throughout the season, she participated in 15 games for her team.
Junior Season (2023/24)
Azzi Fudd is suffering from a torn right ACL and MCL injury (as of March 2024) and has missed almost the entirety of the 2023/24 season. She suffered the injury on November 23, 2024 during a practice session. She has played only two games in the season as per Sports Reference.
