Brandon Schneider is an American college basketball coach who has entered his 10th season as the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks women’s basketball program. He had a successful playing career at Wayland Baptist University where he was a four-year letterman in the men’s basketball program. Right after his graduation, Schneider began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Emporia State University in 1995 and eventually earned his promotion to head coach in 1998.
Schneider spent the next 12 years coaching the Lady Hornet and led the program to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances. Schneider won the 2010 NCAA Division II Tournament and also coached ESU to six regular season conference titles and three league tournament trophies. Following an illustrious 12-year career, Schneider joined Stephen F. Austin in 2010 and guided the Ladyjacks to back-to-back league titles in 2013-14 and 2014-15. He spent five years with the program and joined the University of Kansas in 2015 following the dismissal of Bonnie Henrickson.
In the 2022-23 season, Schneider guided the Jayhawks team to the 2023 WNIT Championship. In the last three seasons, he has led the team to the postseason including NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024. Earlier this summer, Schneider’s efforts earned him a two-year contract extension that will keep him in Lawrence until the 2027-28 season.
