Foster went to Hickory Ridge High School before transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia as per Max Preps. He later moved to Notre Dame High School in California for his senior year. During his senior year at Notre Dame High School, he led the Knights to their first-ever Division I state championship title, scoring a good 33 points in the final game against Granada.
This performance not only secured the championship but also set a record for the highest individual scoring in a Division I state championship game. Throughout his senior season, Foster averaged 21.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, which earned him the MaxPreps California Player of the Year award.
