Cameron Matthews is a forward for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and plays as a graduate student in the 2024-2025 season. Matthews hails from Olive Branch, Mississippi, and attended Olive Branch High School. Throughout his collegiate career, he appeared in 133 games and started in 68 of his last 69 matches. Matthews helped his team qualify for the NCAA Tournament twice in a row. His field goal percentage is 54.0% and making 57.7% free throws. Cameron Matthews had a remarkable career at Olive Branch High School, under head coach Eric Rombaugh. He earned a spot in the All-State Second-Team as well as the 2019-20 "Dandy Dozen" in Jackson Clarion-Ledger. His career as a senior, averaged 16.2 points, 14.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 3.1 blocks per game. His team reached the quarterfinals during the 6A state championship and concluded their season with a 23-6 record. His junior year was marked by 11.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.2 blocks per game as the team finished 26-8 and reached the Class 5A state runner-up. He helped Olive Branch win its first-ever Class 5A state championship in 2017-18. Matthews also played AAU for Team Thad, an elite Memphis-based program founded by NBA player Thaddeus Young. He received offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, and Memphis before committing to Mississippi State University.
