Chris Johnson is an American basketball guard who has transferred to Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks after playing just one season of college with the Texas Longhorns. He started playing high school basketball at the Fort Bend Elkins High School where he earned District 20-6A Newcomer of the Year during his freshman season. During his sophomore season, he averaged 15.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. As a senior, he spent one season with Montverde Academy where he posted 3.6 assists, 6.0 points, and 2.1 rebounds per contest and led Montverde to a 23-3 overall record. Following his prep career, Johnson was named 44th best recruit in the country by ESPN in the class of 2023 and was rated a four-star prospect.

Chris Johnson started his collegiate basketball journey with the Texas Longhorns over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Houston, Kansas, LSU, Ole Miss, TCU, UCLA and Texas A&M. He played in only 17 games during his freshman campaign and averaged 1.1 points per contest. Known for his effective passing and scoring abilities, Johnson decided to transfer to Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks following the conclusion of the 2023/24 regular season with three years of eligibility remaining.
