Cormac Ryan’s Remaining College Eligibility Years
Cormac Ryan has been provided with six years of eligibility for playing college basketball. He debuted as a freshman for the Stanford Cardinal in the 2018/19 season. During his stint with the team, he was notable for scoring 19 points against the UCLA Bruins on February 16, 2019.
This was considered to be his season-best point. After the season, he transferred to Notre Dame Fighting Irish for his sophomore season. This was because he stated (via ndinsider.com) that he felt that Stanford Cardinal was not the best team for him.
At Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he had to redshirt the 2019/20 season because of transfer rules under NCAA. Moreover, Covid-19 caused his sophomore 2020/21 season to be shortened. As a result, he was provided an additional sixth year eligibility for playing college basketball. Throughout his sophomore 2020/21 season, he was notable for his career high 28 points in a victory against the Duke Blue Devils on February 9, 2021.
He followed that up with another career high 29 points during his junior 2021/22 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide during the Round of 64 in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. As a senior, he maintained his consistent performance with the team. Notably, he was also the team captain throughout these three seasons with the team.
After the season, he took advantage of his sixth year and transferred to the North Carolina Tar Heels, of which he is a member as of March 2024. Thus, Cormac Ryan is in his last year of college basketball and has completed five full years of playing college basketball.
