Dain Dainja plays as a forward for the Memphis Tigers and is a redshirt senior for the 2024-2025 season. Dainja is a native of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and attended Park Center High School. Before joining Memphis he played for Baylor and Illinois. At Baylor, Dain redshirted as a freshman during the team's 2020-2021 championship season. Dainja played in Baylor's first three games of the 2021-2022 season, clocking nine minutes of playing time. During that time, he scored six points and three rebounds. Dainja transferred midway through the season to Illinois. Although he didn't play for Illinois that season, Dainja continued to practice with the team for the next season. In the 2022-2023 season, Dain Dainja was ranked fourth in scoring at 9.5 points per game and second in rebounding at 5.5 per game on the Illinois roster. His shot accuracy was 63.6% from the field and was ninth in the Big Ten with 1.2 blocks per game. Dainja had a remarkable performance against Bethune-Cookman, scoring his career-high 22 points, four blocks, and four steals. He was also notable against Kansas City scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. During the 2023-2024 season, Dainja was one of the six players for Illinois who played all 37 games. He was sixth on the team in scoring with 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and was also ranked first on the team with 68.2% field goal percentage. Dainja recorded 20 consecutive field goals in six games during the postseason games. His season-high game figure was registering 21 points on nine of nine shots against Morehead State.
