David McLaughlin, born on July 5, 1974, is the head coach of the Dartmouth College men’s basketball team in the Ivy League. A former collegiate basketball player, McLaughlin spent four years at Colby College where he graduated with a degree in history. Raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, he began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at Suffolk University and then spent two years at Wesleyan University.

After gaining valuable experience, McLaughlin embarked on his journey with the Stonehill men’s basketball program in 2000 and was the assistant coach for the first four years. He was made the interim head coach in January 2024 and the role was made permanent later that year.

For the next nine seasons, McLaughlin earned several prestigious awards including the NABC Regional Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2011, and the NE-10 Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2010. Under his leadership, the Skyhawks enjoyed a stellar spell with a combined 189-99 record and also qualified for the NCAA Tournament on five occasions. Following his tenure at Stonehill, he served three years as the assistant head coach at Northeastern University. In 2016, he was named the head coach of the Dartmouth Big Green, and the 2024-25 campaign marks his ninth season as the program’s head coach.
