South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said it is cool for her to have American rapper Plies showing support for the Gamecocks. The three-time national women's college basketball champion made her feelings known during Wednesday's media availability session before the game against Alabama.

The platinum-certified rapper, who has a net worth of $6 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), was present in South Carolina's 67-50 win over Texas on Sunday. Plies had a video clip with Staley which was posted on his Instagram account.

Dawn Staley, whose net worth is an impressive $12 million per Celebrity Net Worth, told reporters Plies is a friend and has been constantly watching the team's games. The rapper is also close to previous editions of the team, giving them nicknames.

She appreciates Plies' presence and support to South Carolina even though the rapper has been busy with his gigs and tours around the country.

"It is cool when celebrities — they got a hard life too ... like they're putting in hard work and being successful. They know what looks like and feels like and Plies himself, he's taking a like to us it's not a bad thing that means our game is growing and our game is appreciated," Staley said (1:59)

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley unveils plans for game against Alabama

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley unveiled the team's strategy for Thursday's game against No. 19 Alabama (16-2, 3-1 in SEC). The three-time champion coach respects Alabama's shooting abilities and the Gamecocks (16-1, 4-0) will have to close down the Crimson Tide's perimeter game to boost their chances of winning.

Staley also wanted her team to minimize their turnovers and wouldn't like a repeat of what happened in the Gamecocks' victory over Texas where they committed 22 turnovers.

"We don't really turn the ball over we're a pretty good team that takes care of the basketball. I think we got a little bit overzealous and playing too fast because they were so wide open like they saw the openings but they didn't anticipate them closing the space out or was just an errant pass," Staley said. The game against Alabama is the second in the Gamecocks' five-game SEC gauntlet where they face five-ranked teams of the AP Top 25 poll — No. 5 Texas, No. 19 Alabama, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 5 LSU and No. 15 Tennessee — over 15 days.
