Dawson Garcia is an American collegiate basketball forward for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Big Ten Conference. He attended Prior Lake High School in Savage, Minnesota, where he began his basketball journey. During his freshman year, he averaged 8.8 points per game. However, Garcia’s junior year was limited due to injury but managed to average 27.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. The player led his side to a school-record 25–4 season and the Minnesota Class 4A, Section 2 championship game. Moving into his senior year, Garcia averaged 32 points per game. In addition to this, he was named a McDonald's All-American and his name was enlisted in one of the five finalists for the Minnesota Mr. Basketball award. Coming out of high school, he was rated the No. 32 prospect and No. 2 in Minnesota in the class of 2020 by 247Sports, as per Minnesota Golden Gopher's official website.

Garcia got offers from several programs, including Minnesota, Indiana, Memphis, Kansas and North Carolina. Eventually, Garcia enrolled at Marquette University in 2020 and North Carolina University in 2021. After two seasons with two different teams, Garcia joined the Golden Gophers in 2022. Garcia became Minnesota’s top scorer and rebounder, as he averaged 15.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game his junior season, as per ESPN. As a senior in the 2023-24 season, he received Second-team All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten honors, as he averaged 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds 1.6 assists, as per Minnesota Golden Gopher's official website. As of January 2025, Garcia is averaging 19.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists, as per ESPN.

According to Garcia's X post, he shot a promotional video for the 7th Avenue Pizza and Dinkytown Athletes' collaboration, which would generate proceeds for every Minnesota student-athlete upon a pizza purchase in November 2023.
