"Definitely scoring": Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony describes his favorite part of hooping

High school basketball prospect Kiyan Anthony is seemingly following the footsteps of his father, the former NBA star Carmelo Anthony after revealing in an interview that scoring is the favorite facet of his game.

Kiyan made the revelation in the second episode of the SloaneKnows podcast last Tuesday. When podcast host Sloane Weinstein asked him about the favorite part of his game, Kiyan answered scoring right away.

"Definitely scoring. The way that I could score and like how many times I can score and how many points. Like that's my favorite part for sure," the four-star high school prospect said [16:03-16:17].

Kiyan Anthony, ranked the 36th-best prospect in the class of 2025 as per ESPN, told Weinstein that he has evolved from being strictly a shooter to being creative in finding ways to score.

"I would say just when I first started playing I was like strictly like a shooter. I was just catch and shoot. But now it's just like everything like I go to the basket ... midrange I could shoot still so I feel like just expanding my game like in that way just trying to find other ways to like score and stuff," he said [16:30-17:02].

Kiyan Anthony also revealed his workout routine during summer and school days. The six-foot-five guard out of Long Island Lutheran High School said he works out twice a day during summer.

He either lifts weights or play on the court during summer while he practices or goes to the gym after attending classes during school season.

Kiyan also disclosed his most memorable game he'd ever watched was the playoff games of his father, Carmelo, against the L.A. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. He felt that every game between his father and Bryant were iconic as those encounters were like a free-for-all with each player responding to every basket.

"The playoffs when he played against Kobe (Bryant). Every game was just like a battle you didn't know who's going to win. It could go either way. So I feel like those are just the icon games," he said [17:10-17;24].

Kiyan also disclosed in the podcast he has developed a liking to his dad's former team, the New York Knicks, especially now that the former Villanova Wildcats' national championship-winning quartet of Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart are together in one team.

The young prospect felt the group could be special due to their chemistry developed in college and could win an NBA title in their first season as a group.
