Does Dan Hurley's son, Andrew Hurley, play for UConn?

Dan Hurley has established himself as a key figure in UConn men's basketball history. In seven years as coach, he has transformed the Huskies into legitimate title contenders, leading them to successive national championships in the last two seasons.

In the last four seasons, it has been a family affair for the Hurleys at Storrs. While his wife, Andrea Hurley, has been a second mom to the Huskies' roster, he has also coached his son, Andrew Hurley, among the other talents in his roster.

Andrew Hurley is the youngest son of Dan and Andrea Hurley. He developed immensely at East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut, during his high school basketball career under Luke Reilly. He joined the UConn Huskies as a freshman walk-on in the 2020-21 preseason, joining his father at Storrs.

The 2023-24 season for Andrew Hurley was his last in college basketball, and he currently doesn't play for Dan Hurley's team. However, per a report from the UConn Blog on Aug. 3, he will continue to remain a part of UConn's men's basketball program, taking up the role of a graduate manager.

In his freshman season, Andrew Hurley featured in four games, averaging 0.8 points. Although he saw more game time in his sophomore season, he recorded just two rebounds across six appearances.

In his junior season, the Huskies won their first national championship in nine years. Hurley featured in 15 games, including all six of their games in the NCAA Tournament. He ran out the clock in the championship game against the San Diego State Aztecs at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, which finished 76-59 for the Huskies.

Dan Hurley and the Huskies repeated the feat in the 2023-24 season, with Andrew Hurley dribbling out all six of their NCAA Tournament games for the second straight season. The Huskies secured a convincing 75-60 win over the Purdue Boilermakers in the championship game at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

While Andrew Hurley is not part of the roster, Dan Hurley continues to chase a rare piece of history this season. Should the Huskies defend their title once again, they will become the first team since the all-conquering 1967-73 UCLA Bruins to complete a rare three-peat in college basketball.
