
The Duke Blue Devils is the women's basketball team representing Duke University in the NCAA Division I Basketball. They compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Blue Devils women’s team was established in 1975 and plays their home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium, which has a capacity of 9,314 fans. The Blue Devils have appeared in 27 NCAA tournaments, including consecutive appearances from 1995 to 2015 and other appearances in 2017, 2018, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The team made Final Four appearances in 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2006, concluding as national runner-up in 1999 and 2006. Duke made it to the Elite Eight 11 times between 1998 and 2013. They won nine ACC tournament championships, most recently in 2025. The Blue Devils have also claimed 12 regular season conference titles, with two sets of consecutive championships from 2001 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2013.

Kara Lawson is the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils women’s team for the 2024–2025 season. Lawson has been their head coach since 2020. She played college basketball for Tennessee, receiving several All-American awards and four First-Team All-SEC honors. She won a championship with the Sacramento Monarchs in the WNBA in 2005 and was an All-Star in 2007. Lawson also won gold medals with Team USA at the 2001 World University Games and the 2008 Olympics. Following her playing career, she transitioned to a broadcaster and later as a coach. Before joining the Blue Devils she gained experience as an assistant at Boston Celtics. She guided Duke to an ACC Tournament Championship in 2025 and also coached the US National Team to a gold medal in 3x3 basketball in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Lawson earned the Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award twice and the Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award in 2013.
