Duke starts its 2024-25 college basketball season with a game against Maine on Monday at 7 p.m. ET at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

The Blue Devils finished 27-9 last season and made the Elite Eight, upstaging Vermont, James Madison and South Region No. 1 seed in the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament. However, Duke's run was halted by a surging NC State.

Jon Scheyer and his coaching staff seriously recruited during the offseason and secured the commitments of top prospects Cooper Flagg, Khaman Maluach, Isaiah Evans and Kon Knueppel. Duke also snapped up quality transfers in Mason Gillis, Sion James and Maliq Brown.

The offseason acquisitions placed Duke at No. 7 in the AP preseason poll and fifth in the coaches poll. The Blue Devils have shown their potential in two exhibition games against Lincoln and Arizona State with both games ending in lopsided affairs.

Meanwhile, Maine, who ended the 2023-24 season at 15-17, is looking to improve on its fourth-place finish in the America East Conference and start the season strong under third-year coach Chris Markwood.

Two of last year's top scorers — Kellen Tynes and Jaden Clayton — are back for another season and will serve as captains for this year's campaign. Maine didn't have an exhibition game during the offseason.

Maine's lack of exhibition games makes it more interesting for Duke, as the Blue Devils will try to figure out what strategies Markwood has in store for tomorrow's game and how they will counteract this.

Here are the teams' projected starting lineups and depth charts ahead of the nonconference showdown.
